Beat the blank page. Grab a story spark, build a character, write a haiku or an acrostic poem โ then hear it read aloud.
Write a haiku
A haiku is a 3-line Japanese poem with 5 โ 7 โ 5 syllables, often about nature or a moment in time.
Syllable counts are estimated by a computer โ trust your ears too!
Example
Monsoon clouds roll in
the tin roof drums a rhythm
paper boats set sail
Count it: Mon-soon-clouds-roll-in (5) ยท the-tin-roof-drums-a-rhy-thm (7) ยท pa-per-boats-set-sail (5)
Acrostic poem
Each line starts with a letter of your word. Try your name, a season, or a subject!
Example: SUN
Shining over every rooftop,
Unrolling gold across the river,
Never late for morning.

Roll a character, a place, a problem and a twist. Lock the ones you like and re-roll the rest.
